TOKYO, Aug 13, (Xinhua): A gravel transport vessel collided with a yacht off the coast of Hotojima in Tsukumi City of Japan's Oita Prefecture on Wednesday, leaving one unconscious, local media reported. According to the Oita Coast Guard, the yacht disappeared from sight after the collision and is believed to have sunk.

The incident was reported at around 8:15 a.m. local time by the cargo ship's captain. At approximately 10:00 a.m., one person was rescued from the surrounding waters and taken to a hospital, but firefighters reported that the person was unconscious.

The cargo ship's captain said that several people appeared to be aboard the yacht. Authorities suspect more individuals may have been thrown into the sea and continue to search the area, according to national broadcaster NHK.
