Social media platform X has suspended the account of Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement.
Saree’s account, which had more than 121,000 followers, displayed a notice stating that it had been suspended for violating X’s rules. The platform did not immediately provide further details on the specific violation.
Saree had regularly used the account to announce Houthi military operations, including attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and strikes targeting Saudi Arabia and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
The suspension comes as the Houthis continue to use social media as a key channel for announcing military operations and disseminating statements and footage related to their activities in the region.
