TEL AVIV, Jul 10: Israel has provided the United States with new intelligence indicating an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report said the intelligence could further escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran, noting Iran has repeatedly vowed to avenge the January 2020 US strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force.

The White House referred the newspaper to remarks Trump made on Wednesday at the NATO Summit in Ankara, where he said: "They want to take out the U.S. leader—me. I'm on every list. I saw this morning, I'm on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I've been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn't last very long."

The Israeli Embassy in Washington declined to comment, while Iran's mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond.

The report also said Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone on Thursday and agreed to continue close coordination as tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate.
