Romania, Bucharest, Jun 29: France and Switzerland headed to a penalty shootout after extra time in the round of 16 of the European Championship. Mario Gavranovic scored the equalizer for Switzerland in the 90th minute in Bucharest. It was the second match of the day to go to extra time.
Kylian Mbappe missed as Switzerland knocked out France by winning 5-4 on penalties. No goals in extra time. Mario Gavranovic equaled things in the 90th minute. Haris Seferović scored to bring one back for Switzerland after Paul Pogba scored a screamer in the 75th minute to further extend France's lead. Karim Benzema scored twice to give France the lead in the 2nd half, just after Switzerland's Ricardo Rodríguez missed from a penalty.
