KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: According to an informed source from Kuwait International Airport, the mechanism for allowing entry for domestic workers who obtained Kuwait approved vaccines without being subjected to institutional quarantine still requires further clarification from the concerned authorities, reports Al-Qabas daily. He explained that a meeting was held Wednesday last week with a number of officials to discuss the mechanism for allowing vaccinated domestic workers to enter the country. The initial suggestion was to allow entry for domestic workers who received vaccines approved by the health authorities in the country directly without registering on the “Bisalama” app or undergoing a two-week institutional quarantine. According to this suggestion, these domestic workers must meet the requirements set for the return of residents from abroad. These requirements include entry for only those who are vaccinated with two doses of the approved vaccines and those who obtained the green symbol in the “Immunity” app.

The registration of domestic workers on “Bisalama” app will be limited to three categories – the unvaccinated, those who received only one dose, and those who received vaccines unapproved in the country – so that all health requirements are applied to them. A clearer direction on the suggestion to include the conditions, which have been set for the return of immunized residents, for domestic workers who received approved vaccines will become evident within a few days.

Bassam Al-Shammari, Head of the Technical Voluntary Committee that was formed to study the conditions of the domestic labor market told the daily that the prices of tickets for domestic workers coming from the Philippines have increased “insanely”, reaching a limit of KD 1,000, and taking into account the possibility of allowing domestic workers who have received any of the Kuwait-approved vaccines in order to be exempted from the condition of two-week institutional quarantine. He stressed that the prices on the “Bisalama” platform for domestic workers either from Manila or any other countries are specific and will not change at the present time. The prices for those from the Philippines have been set at KD 490 and include the required quarantine for new and unvaccinated workers for a period of two weeks in addition to fl ight tickets, adding that the prices for those from other countries including India have been set at KD 390.
