‘Women occupy 12 pct of senior positions’ – 463 male senior officials in public sector

Graduate engineers Lamya Al-Otaibi, Shahad Al-Osaimi, Manal Al-Bathal and Seeta Al-Ajmi from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the College of Engineering and Petroleum in Kuwait University initiated a project titled ‘Optimum Production of Gas Condensate Field (OPGCF)’.

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: According to statistics issued by the Central Statistical Bureau, women occupy 12 percent of the total number of senior positions. In other words, out of 531 employees who occupy senior-level positions, their numbers are 68, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Among the employees working in the public sector, the number of male senior officials is 463, while the number of female employees occupying senior positions in ministries and state institutions is 40 out of 306, constituting 13 percent as of June 30, 2017.

Out of 71 positions, only eight women occupy senior positions in state bodies with subjoined budgets, constituting 11 percent. Out of 98 positions, 16 female employees occupy senior positions in state bodies with independent budgets, constituting 16 percent. Concerning companies owned completely by the state, female employees occupy four senior positions out of a total of 56, constituting 7 percent.
