Woman Faces Life Sentence After 11-Year-Old Daughter Gives Birth to Husband’s Baby at Home

OKLAHOMA, Jul 22: A 34-year-old Oklahoma woman has been convicted of enabling the sexual abuse of her 11-year-old daughter, who was forced to give birth at home without medical assistance after being impregnated by the woman’s husband.

A Muskogee County jury found Cherie Dawn Walker guilty of one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect.

The case came to light in 2025 after investigators discovered that the child had delivered a baby inside the family’s home without prenatal care or a doctor present. Authorities said the girl had not received medical attention for more than a year, and genetic testing showed a 99% probability that the baby’s father was her mother’s husband, Dustin Joel Walker, age 35.

Dustin Walker had earlier pleaded guilty to sexually abusing his minor daughter and six counts of neglect. He was sentenced to 42 years in prison followed by life imprisonment, ordered to register as a sex offender and prohibited from contacting the victims.

Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson described the case as deeply disturbing, saying she was shocked to learn that an 11-year-old child had given birth without medical care or anyone present to support her.

Prosecutors said the girl had been removed from school, reducing opportunities for teachers and medical professionals to identify signs of abuse. Neighbours also described the family home as unsafe, claiming it had lacked running water for two to three years while six children lived there.

Authorities have since removed all children from the home. The girl’s grandmother, Michelle Justus, has also been charged with child neglect and is scheduled to face trial on July 23.

Cherie Walker is awaiting sentencing and could face a possible life sentence in prison.
