‘Railway network Kuwait’s commitment to GCC’

KUWAIT CITY, July 15: The Public Private Partnership Projects Authority recommended that the railway project authorities should not appoint a consultancy firm to start the launching procedures until the public “entity finishes providing complete technical requirements which are one of the basic components of the RFP document, as it informed the Cabinet of these developments on 27th of February.

“The railway network project in Kuwait is the manifestation of Kuwait’s commitment to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries within the framework of preparing and implementing the railway network project to link the GCC countries,” the authority said in a statement.

The authority explained that due to obstacles to the delivery of the railway network route to the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART), and the Municipal Council not issuing a decision to determine the location of the passenger station and all sites related to the project, coupled with the desire of PART to appoint a consultancy firm to complete studies and preliminary design of the project and find solutions to the obstacles of the project path in a period of approximately 24 months, given the magnitude of the project and the financial obligation involved, the Partnership Projects Authority has addressed concerned authorities not to appoint a consultancy firm to start the offering procedures until the public entity has completed providing the full technical requirements reports Al Rai.

This is considered one of the basic components of the RFP document, as the Cabinet was informed of these developments on February 27th, pointing out that results of the feasibility study for the project were approved by the Supreme Committee in 2016, and PART was handed a copy of the update with the approved feasibility study.
