KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: The Al-Ojairi Scientific Center announced that the Al-Murabba’aniyah season, marking the official start of winter in Kuwait, will begin on Saturday, December 6. The center noted that while temperatures may not drop immediately in the first few days, the season signals the gradual transition from warmth to colder weather.
The center explained that Al-Murabba’aniyah follows the end of the Al-Wasam season and is characterized by fluctuations in temperature at its onset before the cold gradually becomes more consistent. The season spans 39 days and is divided into three segments, each lasting 13 days: Al-Iklil, Al-Qalb, and Al-Shula. The start of the season is typically the coldest, though the intensity varies annually due to global climate factors.
The Al-Ojairi Scientific Center added that nights grow longer during this period, culminating in the longest night of the year on December 21, which lasts 13 hours and 44 minutes, intensifying the perception of cold as the season progresses.
