Winter in Kuwait expected to arrive later than normal

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Kuwait will continue to experience mild conditions and summer-like daytime temperatures into early December, weather and environmental forecasting expert Issa Ramadan said on Tuesday, noting that the country’s winter season is arriving later than usual this year.

Ramadan said in a post on the X platform that weather conditions are expected to improve significantly as clouds clear and winds shift to the northwest, lowering relative humidity and improving horizontal visibility. Fog is also forecast to dissipate from Tuesday morning, he added.

According to Ramadan, the weather will remain sunny through the weekend, with daytime temperatures declining slightly and overall conditions becoming more moderate. Nighttime, however, will tend toward cooler temperatures. He noted that many citizens are still wearing summer clothing during the day, a trend he expects to continue "even after the Al-Murabba'aniyah climatic period begins on December 6."

He explained that “real winter” typically begins when northerly winds associated with the Siberian High start influencing the region. This shift is expected after December 10, when a further drop in temperatures will make colder weather clearly noticeable both day and night.

Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department forecast mild daytime conditions on Tuesday, with light to moderate northwesterly winds occasionally increasing to 12–40 km/h and scattered clouds expected. Nighttime weather is predicted to be cool, with northwesterly winds ranging between 12–42 km/h, particularly along coastal areas.

The department said temperatures at Kuwait International Airport are expected to reach a high of 28°C during the day and fall to 20°C at night.
