KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: Al-Fahaheel club has enlisted the services of goalkeeper Muhab Al-Mutab to strengthen their first handball team in preparation for the forthcoming 2023-2024 season. Al- Mutab brings with him prior experience representing numerous local teams, including Yarmouk, Kazma, and Al-Qadisiyah, in addition to his contributions to our national team and beach handball squad. At present, the Al-Fehaheel management has yet to appoint a coach for the first team.
There are expectations that Egyptian Mohamed Said, who previously coached the U19 team and led the “young eagles” in the previous season following the departure of Coach Walid Salmeen, will assume leadership of the team. Furthermore, the club has not secured any foreign professional players. Reports circulating suggest that professional players will be acquired in December or January, owing to the delayed commencement of the league, scheduled for February of the following year.
This delay is attributed to the involvement of the national team, as well as the participation of Kuwait and Al-Qadisiyah clubs, in various international competitions. These competitions include the Asian Games in China this month, followed by the Asia Olympic qualifiers for Paris 2024, set to take place in Qatar in October (with the senior national team’s participation). Subsequently, the agenda includes the Super Globe 2023 Club World Championship, featuring Kuwait’s participation, followed by Al-Qadisiyah hosting the 26th Asian Club Championship from November 17-27, 2023, featuring the yellow and white teams. Finally, the Asia qualifiers for the 2025 World Cup are scheduled to be held in Bahrain from January 14-25, 2024.
