KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: Municipal Council Member Dr. Hassan Kamal submitted questions to the Kuwait Municipality regarding the reservation and leasing of spaces in public parking areas. Kamal pointed out that traffic studies identified the current and future need for parking spaces, and that multi-storey parking projects have been implemented and are managed by the Ministry of Finance and other entities.
He pointed out that spaces in these parking areas were reserved and leased to private companies for extended periods, which led to the reduction of the number of available public parking spaces. He asked the Municipality to clarify its role in the implementation and management of public parking sites, the extent to which the reservation or leasing of portions of these sites is permitted, and whether the Municipal Council resolutions authorize their private use.
