LOS ANGELES, Sept 24, (Agencies): During an appearance on 'Literally! With Rob Lowe,' Kevin Bacon shared an intriguing tale about his Connecticut farmland, which came with an unexpected twist – a haunted house. Bacon, known for his roles in "Footloose" and other films, recounted the story with all its eerie details.
In 1983, Bacon and his then-girlfriend embarked on a somewhat whimsical journey that led them to purchase a "ramshackled turn of the century farmhouse" in Connecticut. This farmhouse became the center of a unique story. As a city kid, Bacon's newfound passion for horses prompted him to acquire surrounding land to ensure privacy.
The actor humorously recalled his interaction with the previous owner, who lived across the road. One parcel of land contained an abandoned house that the owner hesitated to sell. The reason? He claimed it was haunted, expressing concerns that Bacon might become possessed and cause harm.
After some negotiation, an agreement was reached – Bacon could buy the land, but the condition was that he must demolish the haunted house within a month of purchase. Bacon admitted that he never spent a night in the ghost-infested house. He even considered salvaging some old pine boards and a banister from the property but was promptly discouraged by his wife, Kyra Sedgwick.
When Rob Lowe, the podcast host and a believer in the paranormal, asked about the origin of the ghostly presence, Bacon revealed a historical twist. The haunting was allegedly linked to a Native American who was murdered by a colonial soldier in the 1700s. The previous owner had even enlisted the help of ghostbusters to investigate the supernatural activity.
Despite his involvement in various horror movies throughout his career, Bacon admitted that he has yet to encounter a ghost. He expressed his desire to experience such an encounter someday.
Lowe, on the other hand, shared his own paranormal experience during the filming of his ghost-hunting series, "The Lowe Files," with his two sons. The discussion concluded with some light-hearted banter about the potential for a "celebrity haunted house" episode, with Bacon jokingly saying he would have been there in a heartbeat.
The story paints a quirky and entertaining picture of Kevin Bacon's encounter with a haunted house on his Connecticut farmland.
