WHO Warns of Long-Term Health Risks From Strikes Near Iranian Nuclear Plant

GENEVA, Apr 7: The World Health Organization has warned of serious long-term health consequences if military activity continues near a nuclear facility in Iran.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X that ongoing operations near the Russian-built Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant could raise the risk of a severe radiological incident.

He noted that hundreds of workers were recently evacuated following a strike in the area, warning that continued attacks could lead to “serious and long-term health consequences for people now and for generations to come,” as well as environmental damage across Iran and the wider region.
