KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: In a well-coordinated sting operation, officers from the General Department for Drug Control (GDDC) busted a small but active liquor distribution network, arresting two suspects after a trail of digital evidence exposed their secret dealings.
According to security sources, the case unfolded when authorities first detained a Bedoun caught with 12 cartons of liquor. The arrest, executed in a carefully planned ambush, was the result of days of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
During questioning, the suspect denied involvement in any trafficking network. However, a search of his WhatsApp chats painted a different picture — investigators uncovered incriminating conversations pointing to another individual suspected of distributing alcohol.
Acting swiftly, detectives traced and confronted the second suspect, who confessed to purchasing liquor from an expatriate supplier and reselling it locally. In a calculated move, officers asked him to set up another deal, leading to a decisive sting operation outside a hospital in the Jabriya area.
The expatriate dealer walked straight into the trap, caught red-handed while delivering four bottles of liquor. Security teams seized additional bottles from his possession, allegedly meant for delivery to the first suspect.
Authorities said the second suspect, an Asian national with residency under Article 24, has been referred for deportation, while investigations continue to identify others involved in the network.
The source reaffirmed that the Anti-Narcotics Department remains vigilant, vowing to pursue all individuals engaged in the trafficking and sale of prohibited substances across Kuwait.
