KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25:The security authorities have detained for investigation a well-known Kuwaiti businessman identified only as X.Y. on charges of fraud and cheating a Qatari businessman, reports Al-Rai daily.

Lawyer Faisal Al-Enezi, in a lawsuit filed on behalf of his Qatari client said his client owns two properties in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, which he agreed to give to a Kuwaiti businessman in exchange for the farms in Sulaibiya which the Kuwaiti said belongs to him.

An informed source revealed that the Qatari businessman, after the implementation of the deal discovered that the farms in Sulaibiya belong to the state and not the property of X.Y. The source added X.Y. acknowledged the contract he signed with the Qatari for the said property, including 14 agricultural plots – owned by state and leased to a company.

The source added the defendant said he has the authorization from the company that allows him to sell land and noted that the real estate could not be transferred in the name of the Qatari businessman because of financial claims and that he has no intention to cheat the Qatari.
