SANAA, Oct 15: Yemen’s Houthi forces on Thursday denied carrying out any attack toward Saudi Arabia, rejecting a Saudi-led coalition statement that it had intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the Medina region.

“The Yemeni armed forces confirm that they did not carry out any targeting operation toward Saudi territory today,” the group’s military spokesman said.

The spokesman described the Saudi account of an alleged missile attack toward Medina as false.

The denial came after the Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting a cruise missile in the region of Medina, one of Islam’s holiest cities.

The conflicting statements leave the circumstances surrounding the reported interception unclear. No further details were provided in the statements cited about the missile’s origin or intended target.
