Water quality gets high-tech boost

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy participated in the Fourth Sustainability Camp – a national initiative with the theme, “When Technology Meets Sustainability.” This is part of the ongoing efforts of the ministry to promote the rationalization of electricity and water consumption and to instill sustainability concepts among all members of society, especially children and youth.

The ministry succeeded in navigating the first half of the summer, and it remains committed to ensuring the stability of its services during the second half by taking several measures despite the challenges it is facing this summer. It is focusing on raising public awareness about the judicious consumption of electricity and water, based on its belief that the rationalization of the consumption of such vital resources begins with the individual, thereby preserving the natural resources and raising service efficiency.

It is keen on organizing various national awareness events to deliver conservation messages through its teams, introduce participants to best practices in conservation, highlight the role of modern technologies and innovation in improving energy efficiency, and support the path towards sustainable development. It continues to support national initiatives that promote sustainability and responsible consumption, and to strengthen cooperation with various government agencies and community organizations to guarantee heightened public awareness.

Meanwhile, the ministry intends to construct the water analysis laboratory building in Shuwaikh to enhance the role of the Water Resources Development Center in monitoring the quality of drinking water from the beginning of production until it reaches the consumers, particularly in terms of checking the chemical and bacterial components.

So far, the ministry has achieved remarkable progress in implementing the project. Last week, it asked the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to float a tender for the construction of the laboratory. CAPT then requested the ministry to make certain modifications before approving the tender.
