MOKHA, Oct 21: Warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi positions east of the coastal city of Mokha in southwestern Yemen on Wednesday, Yemen TV reported.
The broadcaster did not identify the targets in detail or provide information on casualties or the extent of the damage. There was no immediate comment from the Houthi group.
The strikes come amid an ongoing military offensive against the Houthis in southwestern Yemen.
On Tuesday, the Yemeni army said it had carried out 744 attacks against the group within 24 hours, claiming to have neutralized around 200 Houthi members and destroyed or damaged 90 vehicles and other military assets. The figures were attributed to the Yemeni army and could not be independently verified.
Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces in September 2014. The takeover prompted a Saudi-led military coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
The Houthis continue to control large parts of northern and western Yemen, while government forces and their allies hold Aden and significant areas of the country's south and east.
