KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a press release warning businesses and sales outlets against unjustified price hikes on essential goods within the local market. The Ministry emphasized that it had issued a stern warning to all businesses and sales outlets, cautioning against exploiting events or material fluctuations as a pretext for artificially inflating prices, disregarding the Ministry's established regulations. The Ministry asserted its dedication to enforcing these directives through its inspection and oversight teams, which are operating at full capacity, conducting extensive market inspections across all governorates to deter any such practices.
The Ministry is committed to fulfilling its legally prescribed responsibilities to address violations and safeguard consumer rights, in accordance with the stipulations of Law No. 39 of 2014 regarding consumer protection. In severe cases, the Ministry asserted its willingness to take the most severe legal actions, including immediate business closure.
The Ministry stressed the importance of consumers playing an active role by reporting any instances of unjust price increases. Consumers are encouraged to file complaints through the consumer protection centers located throughout the six governorates or by using the (Sahl) application for direct communication. The Ministry assured that its field teams are fully prepared to respond promptly to any complaints submitted by consumers, reinforcing its commitment to preserving fair pricing and protecting the rights of consumers
