Warehouse shut down for tampering with expiry dates of foodstuffs

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Inspectors from the Commercial Control Department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry took action by closing down the facility and warehouse of a food factory situated in the Sabhan area for extending the expiry dates of products whose validity had ended, reports Al-Rai daily.

Reliable sources said “inspection officers found food products which showed attempts were made to deceive consumers into believing they were safe for consumption.

“Upon investigation, it was found that the factory workers had changed the expiry dates which had already been returned from various cooperative societies.

The sources further revealed, “The inspectors have confiscated the tools used in these deceitful practices and a comprehensive report has been prepared to refer the suspects to the Public Prosecution.
