Kuwait City, Jan 23: Warba Bank announced obtaining the ISO 27001:2022 certificate for its information security management system, as the first bank in Kuwait to obtain this advanced certificate. The Bank was able to achieve all the requirements of the new standard, which was issued in October 2022 as an updated version of the previous standard, ISO 27001:2013, with which Warba Bank had also obtained a certificate of compliance in March 2021 after a comprehensive evaluation of all applied controls, including securing information and data centers.

The Bank said in a press statement that implementing the new information technology security controls according to international standards came with the aim of achieving the highest levels of protection for customer data, proactively addressing cyber and technology risks, and securing all digital products that the Bank provides to its clients, which help them complete their financial transactions easily and safely.

He explained that obtaining the ISO certificate confirms the Bank’s interest in being proactive in applying international standards for cybersecurity, in addition to the cybersecurity framework issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait to secure information and customer data, and its commitment to maintaining the effectiveness of information security systems and its commitment to renewing and maintaining the certificate.

On this occasion, Anwar Bader Al-Ghaith, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Support Services and Treasury at Warba Bank, expressed his great happiness for achieving this success, which is considered a major achievement that reflects Warba Bank’s commitment to providing a safe and stable environment for its clients, stressing the interest of the executive management and its continuous endeavor to raise business efficiency and the continuous development of protection and safety rules. Pointing out that the Bank’s team has made great efforts to reach this achievement, which is a matter of pride and appreciation.

Al-Ghaith pointed out that this unprecedented achievement in the banking sector, locally and internationally, strengthens the Bank’s leadership in conforming with best international practices and standards.

He added that this supports the confidence and appreciation of international institutions in the Bank’s information security management systems and standards, as one of the pillars of the Kuwaiti economy, and also reflects the proficiency of the Bank’s team in managing information security.

Al-Ghaith stressed the Bank’s ability and keenness to apply the highest quality standards in modern information security management and controls that keep pace with global development in this field, where all teams cooperated to achieve the highest rates of quality and efficiency in banking services provided to clients.

He concluded his statement saying that the Bank’s obtaining this certificate reflects the efforts exerted by all the staff and qualified talents of the Bank, which strengthened its role in adopting and applying the best international practices and standards, emphasizing the Bank’s continuous endeavor to develop and apply the best practices and applications in the field of information security, which contributes to achieving the Bank’s goals and strategies with the highest efficiency rates. ​
