KUWAIT CITY, Jul 13: A wanted Syrian suspect born in 1993 was shot dead by security officers after allegedly stabbing a First Corporal M.F during an arrest attempt in the Ali Sabah Al-Salem area, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior said on Monday.
According to the ministry, a police patrol stopped the suspect while carrying out routine security duties and discovered he was wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant. As officers attempted to apprehend him, the suspect resisted arrest and attacked one of the officers with a knife.
The officer sustained two stab wounds, one to the neck and another to the thigh.
The ministry said security personnel responded to the attack in accordance with the law to repel the threat, resulting in the suspect being shot.
Both the suspect and the injured officer were taken to the hospital. The suspect later died from his injuries, while the officer underwent emergency surgery and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Ministry of Interior said the competent authorities have been notified of the incident and that legal procedures and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case are underway.
