The weekly statistics of the department revealed that traffic officers arrested 19 minors for driving without a license, 39 individuals for holding expired residency permits, and 50 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. The officers also dealt with 223 traffic accidents. Meanwhile, a security source confirmed to the newspaper that traffic accidents and violations have decreased since the implementation of the new traffic law last April. The source stressed that the stricter penalties led to a remarkable decline in the number of traffic violations and accidents. Moreover, during the past seven days, patrol officers apprehended 25 individuals under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.
These individuals were referred to the Drug Control General Department. The weekly statistics for patrol activity in all governorates indicated the arrest of 25 drug users and 73 wanted individuals, while four vehicles wanted by the judiciary were impounded. Patrols also responded to a high volume of incidents, including 148 traffic accidents, five pedestrian accidents and three fights, successfully dispersing and controlling the parties involved in each case. As part of their ongoing efforts to ensure road safety, the officers issued 2,227 traffic violation citations. The patrols affirmed their commitment to continue the security campaigns, emphasizing that the law is applied on everyone to maintain public order and road safety.
