KUWAIT CITY, Sep 8: Shamiya detectives have solved the theft of a wallet belonging to a citizen while he was shopping at one of the capital’s popular malls, after surveillance cameras helped identify and apprehend the suspected thief.
According to a security source, the citizen reported to Shamiya Police Station that he discovered his handbag, which he had placed on a shopping cart while shopping, was missing. The bag contained a branded wallet as well as personal identification cards and documents. The victim said he did not suspect any particular person.
After registering the theft case, detectives reviewed the mall’s surveillance footage, which showed a man taking the bag before leaving the area and getting into a vehicle. In coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, officers traced the vehicle using its license plate details and identified and arrested the suspect.
During questioning, the suspect confessed after being confronted with the investigation findings and security footage. He reportedly led detectives to the location where he had discarded the contents of the bag. The wallet was found in his possession, while the identification cards and other documents had been thrown into a garbage container.
