KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait has stopped issuing visas for female Indian domestic workers following a request from the government of India after it was reported that Indian female domestic workers continued to enter Kuwait through illegal means in spite of a ban in place for their recruitment.

Earlier the government of India had imposed a bank guarantee of KD 720 for female domestic workers coming to Kuwait.

Following strong protests from Kuwait, the Indian authorities later relented and suspended the bank guarantee, while keeping in abeyance the attestation of employment contracts of Indian female domestic workers. It has been reported the ban does not affect their male counterparts, such as gardeners, drivers, houseboys, etc.
