Viral nursery video triggers ‘abuse’ probe

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Faisal Al-Kandari confirmed that the necessary measures were taken regarding the video of the alleged child abuse in a nursery, which went viral on social media, as per the instruction of Minister of Social, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah. Al-Kandari stated that the relevant department called the child’s guardian and the nursery official to investigate the allegation and take legal action, if necessary.

He stressed that the directives of the minister about child protection and safety are clear, stressing there is no tolerance for any act that harms the children. He indicated that legal measures will be taken against anyone proven to have committed violations. Regarding surveillance cameras, he underscored the need for all nurseries to install such cameras in line with the applicable circular to improve oversight and ensure the safety of children
