MAKKAH, May 26: Saudi Hajj security forces arrested 57 people for attempting to enter Makkah illegally without valid Hajj permits, authorities said during ongoing efforts to enforce pilgrimage regulations.
According to Saudi security officials, those arrested included an Egyptian resident and a Saudi citizen accused of transporting 43 pilgrims in violation of Hajj rules and instructions.
Authorities said the pilgrims were attempting to enter Makkah aboard a truck fitted with a concealed compartment designed to hide passengers from security checkpoints. Legal action has been initiated against those involved.
In a separate operation, Hajj security forces also detained 12 residents and visitors who allegedly attempted to enter Makkah on foot without obtaining official Hajj permits.
Public Security reiterated calls for all citizens and residents to comply fully with Hajj regulations and instructions aimed at ensuring the safety and orderly movement of pilgrims during the الحج season.
Authorities urged the public to report any violations by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, or 999 in other parts of the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia has intensified inspections and security measures this year to prevent unauthorized pilgrims from entering the holy sites without official permits, citing crowd management and safety concerns during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
