Vessel Struck by Suspected Projectile in Strait of Hormuz

LONDON, Sept 29: A vessel was struck by a suspected unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of Sept 28, resulting in a fire, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

In a warning issued Tuesday under incident number 143-26, UKMTO said it received a time-late third-party report of the incident. The fire has since been extinguished and the vessel remains underway. All crew members are safe, with no environmental impact reported and no damage assessment available so far.

UKMTO advised vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity while authorities investigate the incident.
