Vance Rejects Iran Wedding Strike Claim, Says No Talks While Ships Are Attacked

WASHINGTON, Sept 3: US Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that Washington would not hold talks with Iran unless Tehran stops attacking commercial vessels, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

“Our message to the Iranians is simple. It’s been the same from the very beginning ... you’ve got to stop,” Vance told reporters at the White House. “We are not talking to Iran unless they stop shooting at ships.”

Vance also expressed skepticism over Iranian state media reports that a US strike had hit a wedding in Iran, saying US Central Command was investigating the claim.

“What I can say with 100% confidence is that, unlike the IRGC, the United States never targets civilians in combat,” Vance said. He added that military mistakes can occur, but said that when US forces make mistakes, “they learn from them to try to get better.”
