USS George H.W. Bush supports US blockade enforcement against Iran

TAMPA, Oct 1: The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) is operating in the Arabian Sea in support of the US enforcement of its maritime blockade against Iran, as US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces have redirected 125 commercial vessels as of Sept. 30.

CENTCOM said the vessels were redirected to ensure compliance with the US blockade targeting maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports and coastal areas. The aircraft carrier has been supporting the enforcement operation in the region.

The latest figure marks an increase from the 122 commercial vessels CENTCOM reported as redirected as of Sept. 25.

The USS George H.W. Bush is a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier deployed to the US 5th Fleet area of operations and has been supporting maritime security and stability operations in the Middle East.
