WASHINGTON/TEHRAN, Nov 6: A US military official has urged Iranian civilians to remain indoors and stay away from Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positions if military tensions escalate, warning that the Iranian military is allegedly placing weapons and command centres in residential neighbourhoods.

Speaking to Iran International, the US official said Washington was concerned about the safety and security of the Iranian people, accusing the Iranian leadership and the IRGC of positioning military assets close to civilian homes.

"The IRGC has been placing military assets like weapons and command centers inside civilian neighborhoods and near homes," the official said.

The official further accused Iran's leadership and the Revolutionary Guards of using civilians as human shields while senior officials and military personnel sheltered in fortified facilities and underground bunkers.

"The Islamic Regime does not care about the people of Iran, as evidenced by Regime leaders and the IRGC using innocent civilians as human shields while they hide. They are hiding in fortified facilities and underground bunkers," the official said.

US issues safety warning to Iranian civilians
The US official advised Iranian residents to take precautions if military tensions intensify, particularly by avoiding areas where IRGC personnel, weapons and military command facilities are located.

"If military tensions escalate, Iranian civilians should take appropriate precautions by remaining indoors and staying far away from the IRGC," the official said.

"The safest place for Iranian civilians during heightened tensions is inside their home," the official added.

The warning comes amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran and concerns over the potential resumption of military confrontations.

The US allegations regarding the placement of military assets in residential areas and the use of civilians as human shields were not independently established in the supplied report.
