WASHINGTON, July 20: The United States is sending additional F-16 and F-35 fighter jets from its bases in Europe to the Middle East, along with more aerial refueling tankers, as it strengthens its military presence in the region, CNN reported on Monday, citing a US official.
According to the report, dozens of US refueling aircraft have already arrived in Israel in recent days, with more expected to follow. An Israeli source told CNN that around 94 refueling aircraft were deployed during the US military operation in March. That number later declined to about 40 but has steadily increased again since last week.
The reported deployment comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing US military operations in the Middle East.
