TEHRAN, July 18: US strikes overnight caused damage to key transport infrastructure in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, including a major road tunnel and three bridges, according to the provincial government.
In a statement, Hormozgan authorities said the Shahid Mirzaei Tunnel was damaged in both directions following the strikes, affecting a key route in the region.
The statement added that the Roudkhaneh Shour Bridge on the Bandar Abbas–Sirjan highway was also hit, while two additional bridges along the road connecting the Minab junction to Rudan sustained damage.
Authorities did not immediately provide details on the extent of the destruction, casualties, or whether repairs had begun.
The strikes came amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with military targets and strategic infrastructure across the region coming under attack as the conflict intensifies.
