TEHRAN, May 17: Iran’s IRGC-linked Fars News Agency reported on Sunday that the United States had set five conditions in response to proposals submitted by Tehran amid ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional conflicts.
According to the report, Washington’s conditions included refusing to pay compensation for war damages, demanding the transfer of 400 kilograms of uranium, imposing limits on Iran’s nuclear facilities, declining to release Iranian assets frozen abroad, and making any halt to the conflict conditional on negotiations.
Fars, citing unnamed sources, said Iran had also presented its own conditions for talks with the United States. These reportedly included an end to the wars involving Lebanon and Iran, the lifting of sanctions, the release of blocked Iranian assets, compensation for damages caused by war, and US recognition of Iran’s authority over the Strait of Hormuz.
The report comes amid heightened regional tensions and continuing diplomatic uncertainty surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities and broader security issues in the Middle East.
