US Seeks Extradition of Philippine ‘Son of God’ Preacher Apollo Quiboloy Over Sex Trafficking Charges

MANILA, Aug. 6: The United States has formally requested the extradition of Philippine celebrity pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is accused by US authorities of operating a sex trafficking scheme and sexually abusing followers.

Philippine officials said the extradition request has been transmitted to the Department of Justice after being submitted through diplomatic channels. Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church and self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God,” is listed among the FBI’s most wanted individuals in the United States.

US prosecutors have accused Quiboloy of using threats, including claims of “eternal damnation,” as well as physical abuse to exploit young followers as part of an alleged trafficking operation. Quiboloy has denied all allegations and has rejected claims of wrongdoing.

The extradition process is not automatic. Philippine authorities must first review the US request before a petition can be filed with a Philippine court, which will determine whether the legal requirements for extradition are met.

Quiboloy is also facing criminal charges in the Philippines, including allegations of child sexual abuse. He was arrested in September 2024 at the KOJC compound in Davao City after authorities conducted an operation at the 30-hectare facility.

His lawyer said they could not comment on the extradition request because they had not yet received formal notification.

Quiboloy, a longtime ally of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, has millions of followers in the Philippines, where influential religious leaders often play a significant role in public and political life.
