US Says No Approval Yet for Proposed 45-Day Iran Ceasefire

WASHINGTON / TEHRAN (AP), Apr 6: A proposed 45-day ceasefire in the ongoing Iran conflict has not been approved by the White House, according to a senior U.S. official.

The official told NBC News that the idea remains “one of many things being discussed” and stressed that former President Donald Trump has not signed off on the proposal. Trump is expected to speak at the White House later in the day.

Iran Preparing Formal Response
Meanwhile, Iran said it has drafted its response to proposals delivered through international mediators.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that Tehran will announce its position at an appropriate time, adding that negotiations cannot take place under threats.

He warned that U.S. threats to target Iranian infrastructure would amount to “war crimes,” and said Iran remains focused on defending the country amid ongoing attacks while continuing diplomatic engagement alongside military considerations.

Criticism of Proposed Plan
Baghaei also described a reported 15-point U.S. proposal—allegedly relayed through Pakistan and other intermediaries—as “excessive, unusual and unreasonable,” stating that it is not acceptable to Tehran.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue alongside escalating military tensions in the region.
