WASHINGTON, Jun 12: A senior US administration official said Israel is expected to support the emerging agreement with Iran once it reviews the full details of the proposed deal, including provisions related to Iran's enriched nuclear material.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, the official said the agreement includes specific measures concerning the destruction and removal of Iran's enriched material and expressed confidence that Israeli concerns would be addressed once the complete terms are presented.
"When Israel sees the full terms of the deal, they will be comfortable with that," the official said, adding that the administration believes Israel will ultimately support the agreement despite longstanding concerns over Iran's nuclear activities.
The official acknowledged that skepticism remains among some groups, including within Iran, but described opposition to the deal as limited.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Iran had privately apologized for what he described as the release of "false information," according to Axios. Trump also expressed optimism that a formal agreement could be signed over the weekend or by Monday.
The latest comments come amid intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at finalizing a broader regional agreement that could include nuclear-related commitments, sanctions arrangements and measures designed to reduce tensions across the Middle East.
While details of the proposed accord have yet to be officially released, both Washington and Tehran have indicated that negotiations have reached an advanced stage, raising expectations of a possible breakthrough in the coming days.
