WASHINGTON, July 11: U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said Iran had "made a poor choice" and would now face the consequences after American forces carried out a new round of strikes against Iranian military targets.
In a post on X, Hegseth said the strikes were launched in response to Iran's actions, warning that Tehran would pay a price for its decisions.
Meanwhile, Axios, citing a senior U.S. official, reported that the strikes targeted a range of Iranian military assets, including air surveillance radar systems, maritime surveillance radars, missile and drone storage facilities, missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch sites, as well as surface-to-air missile launchers.
The strikes are part of a broader U.S. military response following the latest escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, where Washington has accused Iran of attacking commercial shipping. Iran has not yet issued an official response to the reported targets.
