WASHINGTON, Oct 21: The United States has revoked more than 300,000 visas since President Donald Trump returned to office, a senior State Department official said Tuesday, highlighting the administration’s intensified immigration enforcement measures.
“300,000+ visa revocations and counting. Our message to visa holders is simple: respect our laws or lose the privilege of traveling to the United States,” Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar said in a post on the US social media platform X.
“Under President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, safeguarding our country and the American people comes first, today and every day,” she added.
Namdar attached a White House post claiming that the Trump administration had revoked more visas at a faster pace than any previous administration in US history.
State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the revocations targeted foreign nationals involved in illegal activities or considered threats to national security.
“We have zero tolerance for foreigners here on visas who break the law, commit fraud, or undermine our national security,” Pigott said in a separate post on X.
The announcement underscores the administration’s focus on enforcing visa conditions and tightening scrutiny of foreign nationals permitted to enter or remain in the United States.
