WASHINGTON, July 21: The United States said its forces have redirected eight commercial vessels and disabled one as part of ongoing operations to enforce the US blockade against Iran.

In a statement on Monday, US officials said every operational success in the Middle East "begins and ends with service members focused on their missions," highlighting the role of military personnel in carrying out the blockade.

As of July 21, US forces said they had redirected eight commercial vessels and disabled one vessel in support of efforts to fully enforce the blockade on Iran. The statement did not provide further details on the vessels involved or the circumstances under which the disabled vessel was intercepted.

The operation comes amid heightened tensions in the region as the United States continues military measures aimed at restricting Iran's maritime activities and protecting commercial shipping.
