Washington, (AP) March 25: The White House confirmed on Wednesday that diplomatic talks with Iran are continuing, even as U.S. forces remain “very close to meeting the core objectives” of their military operations, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
Leavitt emphasized that while discussions with Iran are “productive,” further strikes could follow if negotiations fail. “If Iran fails to accept the reality of the current moment, if they fail to understand that they have been defeated militarily ... Trump will ensure they are hit harder than they have ever been hit before,” she warned.
President Trump has said the United States is engaged in negotiations aimed at ending the war, though Iranian officials have denied that formal talks are underway. Leavitt declined to provide details on the discussions, describing them as sensitive and still in flux, and did not identify which Iranian officials are involved.
Addressing a reported 15-point ceasefire plan allegedly put forward by the U.S., Leavitt said there are “elements of truth” but noted that some media reports have been “not entirely factual.” She cautioned journalists against reporting speculative details from anonymous sources.
“The White House never confirmed that full plan,” she said. “What I will tell you is these talks are ongoing,” reiterating that negotiations continue even amid heightened military pressure.
