WASHINGTON, Sep 3: A US defense official has denied Iranian military claims that US military bases in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates were struck in missile and drone attacks early Thursday, saying no US bases were hit and all American service members were accounted for.

“No U.S. bases were hit and all U.S. service members are accounted for,” the official told Iran International.

Iran’s military had earlier claimed that its forces targeted Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait, saying missiles and drones struck satellite communications systems, equipment depots and fighter aircraft hangars. It also claimed attacks targeted US troop positions and radar systems at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE.

The competing claims could not be independently verified.
