TAMPA, Jun 11: The US military has denied Iran's assertion that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully closed following the latest round of US strikes on Iranian targets.
In a statement posted on X, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said commercial maritime traffic continues to move through the strategic waterway despite Iranian claims.
“TRUTH: Commercial ships are continuing to transit in and out of the Strait of Hormuz tonight,” CENTCOM said.
The statement came after Iranian military authorities announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to recent US attacks and warned vessels against entering the area.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy transit routes, carrying a significant share of global oil and gas exports. Conflicting claims over its operational status have heightened concerns about regional security and the potential impact on international shipping and energy markets.
