WASHINGTON, July 14: The US military said it launched an additional round of strikes against Iran at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, targeting capabilities that US Central Command (CENTCOM) said had been used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said the strikes coincided with preparations to resume a naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas, which was scheduled to take effect at 4 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Iran's IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported that an explosion was heard in the southern city of Sirik on Tuesday. No immediate details on casualties or damage were available.
