U.S.-IRAN ESCALATION SENDS SHOCKWAVES TO KUWAIT

Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Saud Al-Atwan said the Kuwaiti Armed Forces had intercepted hostile ballistic missiles and drones detected in the country’s airspace since early Sunday. He said the continued Iranian aggression had targeted civilian and vital facilities across Kuwait, including installations belonging to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, causing fires and extensive damage to several key facilities. Al-Atwan affirmed that the Armed Forces continue to perform their duties with a high level of readiness and professionalism, taking all necessary measures in coordination with relevant authorities to protect Kuwait’s sovereignty, security and stability and ensure the safety of citizens and residents. Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah visited injured Kuwait Fire Force personnel who were wounded while responding to a fire at a site targeted during Saturday’s Iranian aggression.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also condemned the attacks during a phone conversation on Sunday. The two ministers reaffirmed their countries’ right to take necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and security, while reviewing regional developments and efforts to pursue diplomatic solutions aimed at maintaining stability. Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Yamahi condemned the Iranian attack on a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait, calling it a grave violation of international law. He said targeting civilian facilities and vital infrastructure represented an unacceptable assault on Kuwait’s sovereignty and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security. He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for Kuwait and called on the international community to take firm action against attacks on Arab states and civilian infrastructure. Bahrain also condemned repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian and vital facilities, describing them as a serious breach of international law and a threat to regional security.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry said the attacks also targeted civilian air navigation systems within the Bahrain Flight Information Region, posing a threat to international aviation safety. It reaffirmed Bahrain’s right to take all legitimate measures to protect its sovereignty, security and vital infrastructure. Egypt condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a violation of the sovereignty of the two Gulf states.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain and rejected any attacks against Arab states, their vital facilities or civilians. Jordan, meanwhile, summoned the Iranian charge d’affaires in Amman to protest what it described as continued Iranian attacks on Jordanian territory and provocative statements by Iranian officials. Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali said Tehran was urged to immediately halt the attacks, stressing that Jordan’s security and the safety of its citizens were a red line. He condemned the attacks as violations of Jordan’s sovereignty and international law, while reaffirming Jordan’s solidarity with GCC states and support for measures taken to protect their security and citizens.
