US halts immigrant visas for Kuwait, not tourists
All visa applicants are to undergo enhanced security reviews, says the US Embassy in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait announced that it is closely monitoring ongoing regional tensions and is committed to providing timely updates as the situation develops. The embassy explained that no changes have been made to the embassy operations or staffing levels. However, as a precaution, staff have been advised to exercise increased vigilance. Also, movement into the facilities at Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring, Ali Al-Salem Air Base, and Camp Patriot has been temporarily halted, with access currently limited to essential personnel only. The embassy urged U.S. citizens in Kuwait to maintain a high level of personal security awareness, stay informed through local and international media, comply with instructions from local authorities, and make decisions based on their individual circumstances in light of the evolving security environment. It also encouraged its citizens to enroll in the US Department of State’s STEP program to receive security notifications and ensure effective communication in emergencies, reaffirming its readiness to assist as needed.

Meanwhile, US Embassy spokesperson in Kuwait Stuart Turner affirmed that the US Department of State will temporarily suspend the issuance of immigrant visas for citizens of some countries, including Kuwait. He clarified that the suspension does not apply to non-immigrant visas, including tourist visas and other categories
