MANAMA, Jun 25: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani said Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries remain committed to respecting national sovereignty and safeguarding vital maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking during the opening remarks of the US-Gulf ministerial meeting in Manama, Al Zayani emphasized the importance of regional stability and secure navigation through key waterways.

“We welcome the efforts that led to the cessation of hostilities and the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran,” Al Zayani said.

He stressed that Gulf states support principles of international law, respect for the sovereignty of nations, and the protection of maritime security, particularly in strategic waterways that are essential to global trade and energy supplies.

The meeting comes amid continued international focus on security arrangements in the Gulf region and efforts to maintain stability following recent tensions involving the United States and Iran.
