Guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) sails regional waters within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Mason, alongside other destroyers, is part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group, one of three carrier strike groups currently operating in the Middle East.

TEHRAN, Apr 29: April 29: Six Iranian crew members from the Iranian-flagged vessel M/V Touska have been released and returned to Iran following detention linked to the seizure of the ship, according to Iran’s IRGC-linked Tasnim News Agency.

The report said the vessel was carrying 28 Iranian crew members when it was intercepted while allegedly en route to Iran. Tehran has reportedly continued efforts to secure the release of the remaining 22 crew members still in custody.

The developments come amid ongoing tensions in regional maritime routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit corridor.

In a separate report, Reuters cited shipping data indicating that at least six vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours—well below normal traffic levels. Most of the ships reportedly transited through Iranian waters and included a sanctioned chemical tanker, the Vast Plus.

According to vessel tracking data from Kpler and satellite analysis from SynMax, the majority of recent crossings involved dry bulk carriers, reflecting continued disruptions in maritime movement.

The reports suggest that shipping activity remains significantly constrained as diplomatic deadlock between the United States and Iran continues over conditions for reopening and securing the strategic waterway.
