CENTCOM, Apr 23: A sweeping U.S.-led maritime blockade targeting Iranian ports is now underway, with American forces deploying a vast military network across the Middle East to restrict shipping access, according to details shared in an official-style update circulating online.
The operation, described as a full-scale enforcement effort, bars vessels from entering or leaving Iranian ports. U.S. forces have already intervened in maritime traffic, directing more than 30 ships—primarily oil tankers—to turn around or return to their ports of origin. Most vessels have complied without reported confrontation, signaling the immediate impact of the blockade on regional shipping routes.
To execute the mission, the U.S. military has mobilized over 10,000 troops, supported by more than 100 aircraft and at least 17 warships. The deployment includes a mix of high-value naval and air assets such as aircraft carriers, guided-missile destroyers, amphibious assault ships, littoral combat ships, and advanced surveillance platforms. Both manned and unmanned aircraft are being used for intelligence, reconnaissance, and enforcement operations.
The move marks a significant escalation in pressure on Iran’s maritime and energy sectors, particularly as oil tankers appear to be the primary targets of enforcement actions. While no direct clashes have been reported, the scale and scope of the deployment highlight rising tensions in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
